Mapping of Setup Activities and Required Roles

Details about how roles and activities are mapped are presented in two sections. The first section introduces the opt-in and setup activities, and indicates which roles are required to complete those activities. The second section introduces the roles, and highlights the activities that each role is entitled to perform.

Setup Activities and the Required Roles

In this table, review the opt-in and setup activities, and the roles that are required to perform those activities. The first column lists all the setup activities and the second one lists the roles.

Caution: Although Application Implementation Consultant role is listed in the table, only assign it to users strictly on a need basis if absolutely necessary and for a temporary duration. Instead, it’s recommended that you create a custom role based on the tasks they need and assign that custom role to the relevant users. While creating custom roles, make sure only the required privileges are assigned. Opt-In and Setup Activity

Roles and Privileges

Review offering features:

  • Review offerings

  • Review new and available features

  • Review upcoming feature updates

One of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant (Job)

  • Application Implementation Manager (Job)

  • Functional Setups User (Abstract)

Configure offering features:

  • Opt in offerings and edit feature selections

  • Review new and available features

  • Review upcoming feature updates

  • Enter Promotion Codes (when applicable)

Either of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant (Job)

  • Application Implementation Manager (Job)

Manage implementation projects:

  • Create, view, edit, or remove implementation projects

  • Modify task list

  • Assign tasks to users

  • Monitor progress of the projects

Either of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant (Job)

  • Application Implementation Manager (Job)

Perform all setup tasks and manage setup data using:

  • Offerings and functional areas

  • Implementation projects

Application Implementation Consultant (Job)

Perform specific setup tasks and manage setup data

Both these roles are required:

  • Functional Setups User (Abstract)

  • A role with the task-specific privilege

Export and import setup data using:

  • Offerings and functional areas

  • Configuration packages for implementation projects

  • CSV file packages for offerings, functional areas, or tasks

Either of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant

  • Export Import Functional Setups User (Abstract) and additional roles with the task-specific setup data privileges

Compare setup data

Either of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant

  • Export Import Functional Setups User (Abstract) and additional roles with the task-specific setup data privileges

Generate setup data reports

Either of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant

  • Export Import Functional Setups User (Abstract) and additional roles with the task-specific setup data privileges

Monitor export/import processes

One of these roles is required:

  • Application Implementation Consultant (Job)

  • Application Implementation Manager (Job)

  • Export Import Functional Setups User (Abstract) and additional roles with the task-specific setup data privileges

Additional settings for setup data export/import

  • Import-only setup mode

  • Export of externally mastered setup data

  • Export file size change

Manage Setup Migration Settings (Privilege)

Manage integration of additional applications

Either of these roles is required:

Functional Setups User (Abstract)

  • Review assigned tasks from implementation projects (when applicable)

  • Perform setup tasks and manage setup data using:

    • Offerings and functional areas

    • Implementation projects

Export Import Functional Setups User (Abstract)

  • Export and import setup data using:

    • Offerings and functional areas

    • Configuration packages for implementation projects

    • CSV file packages for offerings, functional areas, or tasks

  • Compare setup data

  • Generate setup data

  • Create, submit, and monitor export/import and comparison processes

Note: This role must be granted to users having the Functional Setups User (Abstract) role so that they can also export and import setup data of the tasks for which they already have access.
