Does the status of a quote or sales order affect opportunity status?

No, the status is primarily used for filtering and analytic purposes and doesn't impact the status of an associated opportunity. The aggregate status of a quote or sales order defines the aggregate status of each quote or sales order and valid values include:

  • In progress
  • Won
  • Lost
  • Alternate version
  • Deleted

However, if salespeople create or update a quote or sales order in the Oracle CPQ quoting application, the associated opportunity, if active, must be updated in Sales with the same changes. Updates include additions, deletions, and updates to product (revenue) lines on the opportunity.

Other updates, such as issuing the quote to a customer and submitting it as a sales order, are performed only within Oracle CPQ.
