Validating Data Intersections

Intersection check reports are generated as part of the data validation step in the data load workflow. Additional validations improve data quality but increase processing time. This option is best suited for small, interactive data loads.

To enable intersection check report generation, make sure you set the following options in the Edit Integration window > Options tab > Options subtab:

  • For an administrator, enable the Check Intersection and Enable Data Security for Admin Users options.
  • For non-administrators, enable the Check Intersection option.

Note:

This feature is only available for Financial Consolidation and Close and Tax Reporting. It's available in Full Workflow mode only. For cross instance integration, it's available when you pull data from a remote instance.

When running the validation step, you can run the Intersection Check Report to check the data such as the data intersections (cell status of account, entity, and so on) from the target application.

If errors are encountered, then intersection check reports are generated as part of the data validation. This report provides information about following errors:

  • Invalid Intersection (highlighted in red color): Indicates the intersection isn’t valid. During validation, any intersection that is not part of the defined valid intersections or is part of the invalid intersections is identified and listed as invalid in the intersection check report.
  • Cannot Write (highlighted in purple color):
    • Indicates no read or write access as cell status.
    • Indicates cell status is locked.
  • Invalid Member (highlighted in orange color): Indicates that the target member isn’t valid, and the member isn’t available in the target system.

After performing data validation, to view the intersection check report errors:

  1. On the Data Integration page, click and then click Workbench.
  2. Go to the Validation Errors tab and click Intersection Check Report.

The report is downloaded to your system.

    Note:

Only if the intersection fails, the Intersection Check Report button is displayed.

If the user maintains the folders and the files are deleted, then the Intersection Check Report button isn't displayed, and you must rerun validate. Also, if the files are purged, you'll not be able to view the report and you've to rerun the report.
