Formatting Best Practices

When formatting a report, keep in mind the following points:

  • Cell formatting has precedence over row and column formatting and grid formatting.

  • Cell formatting allows you to make exceptions to row and column formatting and grid formatting.

  • Row/column formatting has precedence over grid formatting.

  • Row/column formatting allows you to make exceptions to grid formatting.

  • The correct sequence in formatting a report is:

    1. Format the grid.

    2. Apply different formatting to rows and columns.

    3. Apply specific cell formatting.

To copy formatting from a grid cell, row, or column:

  1. Select your source cell, row, or column.

  2. Right-click, and select Copy Formatting.

  3. Select your destination cell, row, or column.

  4. Right-click, and select Paste Formatting.
