Using Notes, you can enter POV-based narrative text which is then displayed in formatted reports along with grids and charts. You can utilize Notes where reporting structure and narrative requirements are uniform across Entities, Departments, and so on. You can enter Notes in reports where the report designer has inserted a Note Template. You can also enter Note text while previewing a report in HTML.
The Notes feature is only available in Narrative Reporting deployments, it is not available in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud deployments.
Notes can be displayed in reports either in a Note Template (one template per Note and POV selection) or in a report using the Notes text function. The Notes text function provides a robust and flexible way to display Notes in an report in either a text box or in grid row, column, or text cells.
Notes are exposed through a text entry object in Reports. The Report designer can control the available POV selections, formatting number of characters and access permissions, as needed.
Notes are not associated with a grid or chart, they contain their own POV selections.
You can preview a report by selecting the desired POV, entering the text, and submitting it.
Notes are stored by Note box name, data source and POV. Notes provides a structured solution for end users to enter POV based narrative text, which is then displayed in formatted reports along with grids and charts . Notes can also be utilized where reporting structure and narrative requirements are uniform across Entities , Departments, and so on.
To work with Notes:
The Report Designer inserts a new or existing Note Template into a report. Set POV, initial formatting, and text.
Save the Note Template to the repository.
The report viewer selects the POV, runs the report in HTML, enters formatted Note text to create a Note.
Once created, Note Template can be inserted into other reports for viewing or additional entry context.
The Note Manager can be used to view, edit, and manage Note Templates, Notes, and Note Formats.
Display Notes in a report using either a Note Template or the Notes text function.
