Working on Reports in PowerPoint
You can insert and work on Reports in Microsoft PowerPoint using Oracle Smart View for Office.
Data source types: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, PlanningTax Reporting
Starting 26.200, you can insert fully formatted reports in PowerPoint as a set of slides ready for presentation. Each report sheet is rendered on a separate slide. You can insert reports in the following ways:
- Insert Formatted Report: The report objects, including logo, header, grid, and chart are inserted as images in the slide.
- Insert Report as Table: The report grid is inserted as an editable table which you can format in terms of color, font, font size, and so on as per your requirement. The rest of the objects are inserted as images.
After inserting a report, you can do the following:
- Change the report POV.
- Edit any prompts available in the report.
- View report properties.
- Analyze a report by directly opening it in Excel ad hoc from the slide.
- Refresh reports.
Guidelines on Working with Reports in PowerPoint
Note the following guidelines and considerations while working with reports in PowerPoint.
- Each report sheet is rendered on a separate slide.
- For better readability and visual layout, maximum two report objects are
supported on a slide. For example, two charts, or two grids, or one chart and
one grid, or one chart and one text block or summary.
If there are more than two objects on a report sheet, then the extra objects will overflow the slide area.
- When you edit POV or prompts for a report or refresh all reports in a presentation, the reports are reinserted and reloaded in the presentation. Note that formatting changes applied in PowerPoint are lost during these operations.
- Oracle recommends that the reports to be inserted in Microsoft PowerPoint must be specifically designed for a slide presentation layout. Reports designed for Microsoft Excel may not render properly in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Sometimes, performing the Analyze operation on a second or a subsequent report slide may fail and result in opening of a blank Excel sheet. As a workaround, it recommended to perform the Analyze operation on the first slide.
