Supported Data Source Providers

Oracle Smart View for Office supports connections to several EPM Cloud and EPM System data sources, along with Oracle Essbase, Oracle Analytics Cloud, and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition data sources.

Smart View with EPM Cloud, Essbase Cloud, and Oracle Analytics Cloud Data Sources

Smart View provides a common Microsoft Office interface for these Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Oracle Essbase, and Oracle Analytics Cloud data sources:

  • EPM Cloud, includes:

    • Planning

    • Planning Modules

    • Account Reconciliation

      Smart View connected to Account Reconciliation requires the Reconciliation Compliance extension.

    • Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management

    • Financial Consolidation and Close

    • FreeForm

    • Narrative Reporting

      Smart View connected to Narrative Reporting requires the Narrative Reporting extension.

    • Profitability and Cost Management

    • Reporting Settings

    • Strategic Modeling

      Smart View connected to Strategic Modeling requires the Strategic Modeling extension.

    • Tax Reporting

  • Oracle Essbase cloud, including:

    • These versions of Essbase on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure via Marketplace:

      • Essbase 19c

      • Essbase 21c

    • Oracle Analytics Cloud - Essbase

    Smart View connected to Essbase cloud works with the Cube Designer extension.

  • Oracle Analytics Cloud

    Smart View connected to Oracle Analytics Cloud requires the Oracle BI EE extension.

Depending on the EPM Cloud business process to which you're connected, Smart View works with these extensions:

  • Predictive Planning extension

  • Reconciliation Compliance extension

  • Strategic Modeling extension

  • Supplemental Data Manager extension

  • Task Manager extension

Note:

Smart View is not supported with shared workbooks. When the Excel option for sharing workbooks is enabled, Smart View operations are not supported. For example, attempting to perform a refresh in a shared workbook can cause an exception to occur.

To clear the shared workbook option in Excel, go to the Review ribbon, then click the Share Workbook button, and then clear the Allow changes by more than one user at the same time check box.

Notes about Supported Data Sources and Extensions

  • Most of the extensions listed above are discussed in their respective guides (see the Oracle Help Center for more information). The Narrative Reporting extension, Reconciliation Compliance extension, and Oracle BI EE extension are discussed in this guide.

  • In this guide, references to Financial Reporting apply to both the on-premises and EPM Cloud versions of Financial Reporting.

  • In this guide:

    • Essbase on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure via Marketplace is referred to as "Essbase cloud."

    • Essbase on Independent Deployments is referred to as "Essbase on-premises."

    • When a guideline or caveat applies to both Essbase cloud and Essbase on-premises, then simply "Essbase" is used.
