Searching for Forms and Other Artifacts
You can search for forms and other artifacts present in your Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management business process using the Smart View Panel search.
Data source types: Cloud EPM: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
Starting Oracle Smart View for Office 23.100+, the ability to search in the Smart View Panel helps you find and access forms and other artifacts you need faster. In addition to forms, you can also search for smart forms, flex forms, composite forms, ad hoc grids, reports, documents, task lists, and dashboards.
In the Smart View Panel, you can search within the Library, Reports, Documents, and Task Lists folders.
Note:
- For searching documents, your service administrator must enable the Documents
folder in Smart View. This is
done by setting the value of
<enableLibrary>property to1in theproperties.xmlfile. You can then view the Documents folder in the Smart View Panel and search its contents. - Searching task lists requires the Cloud EPM 23.08 or later.
The following are supported in Smart View Panel search:
- Regular expressions
- Alphanumeric terms: For example, Plan2022, Q3-report, or expenses5Jul
- Case-insensitive search: For example, searching for "plan", "Plan", or "PLAN" fetches the same list of items which have this term in their names, irrespective of their case.
To search for forms and other artifacts in the in Smart View Panel:
- Connect to the data provider.
- In the Smart View Panel, expand the tree view to view the list of items.
- In the search box, start typing the artifact name you want to search.
The list of matching artifacts containing the entered letters start appearing in the search results, even without pressing Enter. For example, if you start by typing the letter "p", the artifacts containing the letter "p" appear in the search results. As you continue to type "plan", the search results further filter to now display artifacts with the word "plan" in them. You can also copy and paste a search term directly in the search box.
You can edit the search term and see the search results list filter accordingly, without pressing Enter. For example, if you have typed "plant" and then use backspace or delete to remove the "t", the search results will filter to display artifacts containing "plan".
The search results appear as a flat list (instead of the tree view hierarchy) and the artifacts are displayed along with their respective icons for easy identification.
If there are no matching artifacts for the searched term, the panel appears blank.
If you type a long search string or pause while typing, it may happen that the entered search term appears jumbled, that is the characters may display out of order, and not yield the expected results. For example, while typing "plan", if you pause after typing "p" and continue typing, the entered term may appear as "pnal" instead of "plan". This happens because Smart View sends the search request immediately as you type for getting results faster. Ensure that you avoid long strings or pauses and review the search string after typing it in the search box.
- To verify that all matching search results are displayed, press
Enter. This ensures that the latest artifacts created in
your business process application are fetched and searched, especially if you cannot
find the required artifact in the initial search results.
If there are no matching artifacts for the searched term, the panel appears blank and retains the tree view on clearing the search term.
- Open the searched artifact directly from the search results.
You can also right-click an item in the search results to view more options specific to the selected item. For example, if you searched for a form and want to open it directly in ad hoc analysis mode, then right-click the form in the search results and select Ad Hoc Analysis.
- Optional: To clear the search box and return to the tree view in the Smart View Panel, click
next to the search box or clear using the Backspace
key.
