About Application Roles

Application roles enable Service Administrators to customize a user's access beyond the capabilities granted to that user by a predefined role. While users with the Service Administrator or Power User roles can access most of the functional areas in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, users with the User or Viewer predefined roles have a much more limited set of access privileges provided to them by their predefined roles. Application roles enable these users to access functionality that their predefined role does not grant them by default.

Note:

Application roles can only enhance the access rights of users; none of the privileges granted by a predefined role can be restricted by assigning an application role.

For a list of available application roles in Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, see Application Roles in Administering Access Control.

Note:

Some application roles are already included in one or more predefined roles. For details, see Predefined Role Mapping in Administering Access Control. You cannot assign additional application roles to a predefined role.
