Copying a Rule or Rule Set

When you copy a rule or rule set, all of the information in the source rule or rule set is copied to the new rule or rule set. In the case of a rule set, you can select whether to copy all the rules in the source rule set into the new rule set.

To copy a rule:

  1. From the Home page, select Modeling, and then Designer.

  2. On the Waterfall Setup tab, select a rule.

  3. Click Copy icon (Copy icon).

  4. In the Copy Rule dialog box, enter a name for the new rule.

    Note:

The name for the copied rule must be unique. You cannot have two rules with the same name in a model.

  5. Click OK.

The copied rule is displayed under its associated rule set. The new rule is initially created with the same sequence number as the source rule. To change the sequence (the order in which the rule will run), select the copied rule, and click Edit icon (Edit icon).

To copy a rule set:

  1. From the Home page, select Modeling, and then Designer.

  4. In the Copy Rule Set dialog box, specify the following information:

    • New Rule Set Name: Enter a name for the new rule set.

      Note:

The name for the copied rule set must be unique. You cannot have two rule sets with the same name in a model.

    • Copy rules: Select to copy all the rules in the source rule set into the new rule set.

    • Prefix for Rule Name: If you selected to copy rules, enter a prefix to use for the new rule names that will be created as part of the copy operation.

      Note:

Since you cannot have rules with the same name in a single model, the prefix is to ensure that each copied rule has a unique name.
