Auto-Adjustment of ETA for En Route Activities

You can get the most up-to-date information and ongoing updates about the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for en route activities even when the traffic situation changes. Oracle Field Service auto-adjusts the ETA for en route activities when a mobile worker is set to travel and until the travel finishes. The adjustment is based on the changing traffic situations, a mobile worker taking a different route, or a mobile worker running late or ahead of schedule.

The ETA is auto-adjusted for activities when these conditions are met:
  • You've a license for Oracle Field Service Enterprise edition.
  • Your administrator has selected the Periodic update of ETA for En Route activities setting on the Business Rules page.
You can see the adjustments in updated ETA values across the application and also on the activity History page. An activity starts getting auto-adjustments when:
  • Activity is set to En Route status.
  • Activity coordinates are resolved with high accuracy or you provided them.
  • You don't set the activity travel manually (travel estimation method isn't 'Manual adjustment').
  • Continuous position data is available for a resource assigned to an activity with a coordinates accuracy of 100 meters or less.
An activity stops getting auto-adjustments when:
  • Travel to an activity is finished (activity status is set to any status other than En Route).
  • You set the activity travel manually (travel estimation method is 'Manual adjustment').

ETA is updated for an activity when the latest position data is available for a resource (with accuracy 100 meters or less), and it indicates that a mobile worker deviated from a calculated route for more than about 500 meters or for more than about 5 minutes (late or ahead of schedule).

After this, the application tries to recalculate the new route (subject to geoprovider data availability) considering the new resource position data. When a new route and new ETA are available, the ETA is updated.
