Change a Resource’s Location Temporarily

You can define the start and end locations and the home zone center, for a specific period. The locations for the selected dates are used in all types of routing including bulk, immediate, and urgent routing, and for calculating resource queues as well.

  1. Click the main menu and click Resources.
  2. Select the resource for which want to update the location.
  3. Click the Locations tile.
  4. Go to the Temporary Resource Locations section.
  5. To add a temporary location from which a resource operates, click the plus icon.
The Add Temporary Locations dialog box appears.
  6. Select the start location, end location, and home location.
  7. Select the dates between which the resource operates from these locations.
You can select any date in the future for up to 1085 days.
  8. Click Add.
An temporary location is added for the selected date. The date range is displayed on the Locations page. You can add temporary locations for different periods. If you add a temporary location for a period during which another temporary location exists, you get a warning message stating: 'The resource has another Start/End/Home location for this period'. After you confirm, the record is divided into multiple records and the locations are updated as required.

If you change the location that started some time ago and is still relevant for the future, the start date that was in the past becomes disabled. After you save the location, it's divided into newly added locations and past locations. When you change an existing location to an empty option while editing, then the location is removed.

Temporary locations older than 90 days are deleted automatically. The working time of a resource that's temporarily assigned to a different work zone is outlined with a gray box and a gray arrow pointing out in the Dispatch Console and Manage pages. Similarly, the working time of a resource that is temporarily assigned to the current work zone is outlined with a green box and a green arrow pointing in, in the Dispatch Console and Manage pages.

  9. To remove a temporary location, click the minus icon.
