Add a Resource Type for Organization Unit in Oracle Fusion Field Service

An organization unit aggregates mobile workers, vehicles, and tools in a hierarchical structure to simplify management and reporting. An organization unit doesn't require a user, can't process work or activities, is shown with a Double Tech icon, includes the group option, and can have activities assigned.

Note: Some features are available only during the initial configuration. This varies based on the options selected during the configuration. Features that aren't available for editing after the initial configuration will be greyed out.
  1. In Fusion Setup and Maintenance, go to Navigator > My Enterprise > Offering Setup. Select the Field Service offering. In the Scheduling and Dispatch functional area, select the Resource Types task. The Resource Types page displays all the resource types you’ve created so far.
  2. Click the plus icon.
The Add Resource Type drawer opens.
  3. Complete these fields:
    • Enabled: Move the slider to enable the resource type. The resource type is disabled by default, you must enable it to create resources of this type.
    • Name: Enter a name for the resource type. All supported languages are listed.
    • Label: Enter a unique identifier for the resource type. This identifier is mapped to the REST API.
    • Role: Select Organization Unit.
    • Capacity planning eligible: Select this checkbox to count the capacity across buckets. For example, assume that the maximum available capacity for Bucket 1 is 1920 minutes and the Capacity planning eligible checkbox is selected. Bucket 2 has a maximum available capacity of 2400 minutes and the Capacity planning eligible checkbox isn't selected. Now, if you select the Capacity planning eligible checkbox for Bucket 2, then the Group resource type aggregates the capacity across Bucket 1 and Bucket 2 and changes the maximum available capacity of the Group to 4320 minutes.
  4. Click Add.
The Organization Unit resource type displays on the Resource Types page.
