Assign a Work Skill to a Resource in Oracle Fusion Field Service

You can assign a work skill from the resource calendar when a resource requires an additional skill for a specific period. You can add supplemental work skills for the current date or a future date. You can't add or change an assignment in the past.

  1. In Fusion Setup and Maintenance, go to Navigator > My Enterprise > Offering Setup. Select the Field Service offering. In the Scheduling and Dispatch functional area, select the Field Resources task. The Field Resources page displays all the Field Service resources, except those of Manager/Dispatcher/Admin type.
To use Fusion Setup and Maintenance, you must have either the ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_JOB role or a custom role containing duties from ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_DUTY.

You must enable the Permission Group Job Roles through the Security Console to allow access to these configuration pages. This applies to users assigned to the Field Service Manager or Field Service Application Administrator roles. Due to a known issue, you must manually enable Permission Groups for the Job Role through the Fusion Applications Security Console. Ensure that the user account being used has the required Job Role assigned. Sometimes, existing users with the required Job Role might still not receive the appropriate permissions until the role is manually removed and re-assigned. After completing the steps above, it might take about 10 minutes for the changes to become effective.

  2. Use Smart Search to find the resource you want to view.
You can enter a keyword or use these filters: Status, Resource Type, User Type, Organization, and Org Unit or Bucket. You can see the number of matching resources before you select a filter value. This helps you decide how a filter narrows the results.
  3. Select View Resource Calendar for the required field resource.
  4. Select the Work Skills tab and then select Add Work Skill.
The Add Work Skill drawer opens.
  5. Select one or more work skills to assign to the resource.
  6. Use the ratio slider and assign a ratio for each work skill using a scale of 1 to 100.
A higher ratio means that the resource has a higher chance of being allocated the task. If a resource performs this task only occasionally, enter a lower number.
  7. If you're creating a supplemental work skill assignment, select the Supplemental checkbox and then specify the start date and end date.
  8. To assign a supplemental work skill for one day, use the same date for the start date and end date.
  9. Click Add.
The assigned work skills are displayed on the Work Skills tab. Supplemental work skills are displayed on the resource calendar for their effective dates. You can't create overlapping supplemental assignments for the same work skill. If an assignment already covers part of the required period, update its date range instead.
  10. To remove the work skill, select the work skill on the Work Skills tab and then select Remove.
You can update or remove assignments only for the current date or a future date.
