Assign a Work Zone to a Field Resource in Oracle Fusion Field Service

Work zones define the geographic areas in which field resources can perform activities. Assign a permanent or temporary work zone to a field resource from the Work Zones tab.

Before you start, make sure that the required work zones are configured in Oracle Fusion Field Service.
  1. In Fusion Setup and Maintenance, go to Navigator > My Enterprise > Offering Setup. Select the Field Service offering. In the Scheduling and Dispatch functional area, select the Field Resources task. The Field Resources page displays all the Field Service resources, except those of Manager/Dispatcher/Admin type.
To use Fusion Setup and Maintenance, you must have either the ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_JOB role or a custom role containing duties from ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_DUTY.

You must enable the Permission Group Job Roles through the Security Console to allow access to these configuration pages. This applies to users assigned to the Field Service Manager or Field Service Application Administrator roles. Due to a known issue, you must manually enable Permission Groups for the Job Role through the Fusion Applications Security Console. Ensure that the user account being used has the required Job Role assigned. Sometimes, existing users with the required Job Role might still not receive the appropriate permissions until the role is manually removed and re-assigned. After completing the steps above, it might take about 10 minutes for the changes to become effective.

  2. Use Smart Search to find the resource you want to view.
You can enter a keyword or use these filters: Status, Resource Type, User Type, Organization, and Org Unit or Bucket. You can see the number of matching resources before you select a filter value. This helps you decide how a filter narrows the results.
  3. Select View Resource Calendar for the required field resource.
  4. Go to Work Zones and select Add Work Zone.
The Add Work Zone drawer opens.
  5. Select the work zone to assign to the resource.
  6. Use the ratio slider and add a ratio for the work zone.
The ratio can be between 1 and 100. A higher number increases the likelihood that this resource is assigned activities in this work zone. If this is a work zone the resource works in daily, or if it's a preferred zone for the resource, enter a higher number. If this resource works in this work zone occasionally or only by exception, enter a lower number. You can assign multiple work zones with different ratios to one resource.
  7. Configure the recurrence of the schedule and select whether the work zone applies daily or weekly.
For a weekly recurrence, select the days of the week when the work zone applies.
  8. If you're creating a temporary work zone assignment, specify the start date and end date. To assign a temporary work zone for one day, use the same date for the start date and end date.
  9. Select Add.
The work zone is displayed on the Work Zones tab. A temporary work zone is also displayed on the resource calendar for its effective period. Don't create an assignment that overlaps another assignment for the same work zone. Update the existing assignment if you need to extend its date range.
  10. To remove the assignment, select the work zone on the Work Zones tab and then select Remove.
Any activities associated with these work zones will no longer get routed to this resource. Deleting a work zone from a resource doesn't delete it from the application. It will still be available to be assigned to other resources as needed.
