Configure Maintenance Work Order Debrief

Configure Maintenance Work Order Debrief so that mobile workers can use Debrief for Maintenance Work Order activities in Oracle Fusion Field Service.

Before you start

Fusion products referenced in this topic: Oracle Service Logistics, Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM Product Management

Before you configure Maintenance Work Order Debrief, complete these prerequisites:

  • Verify that the Oracle Fusion application used by Debrief is configured and associated with the Debrief plug-in. If the connection uses OAuth User Assertion, configure the application and associate it with the plug-in before configuring Maintenance Work Order Debrief. For more information, see OAuth User Assertion Flow (getAccessToken procedure) and Plugin Configuration to Connect Oracle Fusion Field Service Application in Mobile Plugin Framework.
  • Activate the Debriefing screen for mobile workers. See Activate Screens.
  • Configure the required labor and expense billing items in Item Management within Product Information Management. For more information, see Using Product Master Data Management.
  • Configure the required resource mappings, inventory configuration, Maintenance resources, and access requirements.
  • Give mobile workers access to the applicable Maintenance Work Orders and inventory organizations.
Note: For configuration managed outside Oracle Fusion Field Service, see the documentation for the Oracle Fusion Cloud application that owns that configuration.

Configure the required items, mappings, transaction requirements, and stocking locations before mobile workers debrief Maintenance Work Order activities.

Here's what to do

  1. Configure default labor items when regular labor or travel labor must be populated automatically when a mobile worker opens Debrief.
    1. Go to Configuration > Forms & Plugins.
    2. Open Debrief Plugin.
    3. Add or edit the laborItemNumberForRegLabor parameter, and set its value to the billing item number used for regular labor.
    4. Add or edit the laborItemNumberForTravel parameter, and set its value to the billing item number used for travel labor.
    5. Save the plug-in parameter values.

Each parameter must identify the applicable labor billing item. When a mobile worker opens Debrief for a Maintenance Work Order activity, Oracle Fusion Field Service uses the applicable parameter to provide the default regular-labor or travel-labor item.

Note: These parameters don't identify which Maintenance resource receives the resulting transaction. The downstream resource-to-item configuration identifies the Maintenance resource associated with the selected billing item.
  2. Configure the required labor and expense items.
    1. Create and maintain the required labor and expense items in Item Management in Product Information Management.
    2. Ensure that the item definitions, descriptions, and related attributes are available for selection on the Labor and Expense screens. Where applicable, maintain item and subinventory details so that they can be retrieved during debrief item-installation flows.
  3. Configure resource-to-item mappings.
    1. Use Resource to Item Mapping in Service Logistics Setup to associate labor and expense items with Maintenance resources.
    2. Define the required item-to-resource mappings for each Field Service inventory organization used by mobile workers.
    3. When Debrief posts a resource transaction, the mapping identifies the Maintenance resource associated with the labor or expense item selected by the mobile worker.
Note: Maintenance Work Order resource transactions are created only for resources included in the resource-to-item mapping. A resource defined on the Maintenance Work Order but not mapped to the selected item isn't considered for resource-transaction posting.
  4. Configure labor transaction requirements.
    1. Associate the applicable Maintenance resource with the operation work center on the Maintenance Work Order. This association is required for a labor transaction to post successfully.
    2. Labor hours are captured in Oracle Fusion Field Service in hours. Configure the Maintenance resource unit of measure as Hours.
  5. Configure expense transaction requirements.
    1. The Expense screen displays the primary currency or unit of measure defined for the expense item in Product Information Management.
    2. The downstream expense calculation uses the resource unit of measure configured in Maintenance. Confirm that the item and resource configurations are aligned.
  6. Configure stocking locations for parts debrief.
    1. To search for and record Fusion on hand inventory from Debrief, configure stocking locations and assign them to the appropriate Field Service mobile workers. For more information, see Set Up Stocking Locations.
    2. Create a stocking location that links an inventory organization and subinventory, set the applicable material condition, and assign the stocking location to the mobile worker who uses that inventory.

Results:

Mobile workers can use Debrief for Maintenance Work Order activities with the configured labor, expense, resource, and inventory settings.
