Add the Inventory Types

You must add inventory types (expense, labor, part, part_sn) to capture the information about the time and materials used for the activity. The plug-in stores the reported information about time and expense in the installed pool of the activity. However the parts used and parts returned are stored in the resource and customer pools respectively.

  1. Log in to Oracle Field Service as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration > Inventory Types and click Add New.
  3. To add the 'Expense' inventory type:
    1. Type 'expense' in the Label field.
    2. Type 'Expense' in the Name field.
    3. Select 'Expense_item' from the Model Property drop-down list.
    4. Click Add.
  4. To add the 'Labor' inventory type:
    1. Type 'labor' in the Label field.
    2. Type 'Labor' in the Name field.
    3. Select 'Labor_Item' from the Model Property drop-down list.
    4. Click Add.
  5. To add the 'Part' inventory type:
    1. Type 'part' in the Label field.
    2. Type 'Part' in the Name field.
    3. Select 'Part_item+Revision' from the Model Property drop-down list.
    4. Click Add.
  6. To add the 'Part SN' inventory type:
    1. Type 'part_sn' in the Label field.
    2. Type 'Serialized Part' in the Name field.
    3. Select 'Part_item+Revision' from the Model Property drop-down list.
    4. Click Add.
