Example of Creating a Tax Regime Using the Manage Tax Regimes Spreadsheet

This example shows you how to create a tax regime in Oracle Fusion Tax using the Manage Tax Regimes spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet entry and tax configuration upload facilitate a faster implementation. Here's what you can do with the spreadsheet feature:

  • Populate new transaction tax configurations.

  • Download the existing transaction tax configurations.

Prerequisites

To create tax data in a spreadsheet, you must ensure that the appropriate underlying master geography data already exists in Trading Community Model geographies.

Creating Tax Regime Setup Data in a Spreadsheet

Open the spreadsheets used for creating tax configuration from the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets list. The list is located in the Search Results table on the respective Manage page.

Here are the tasks in the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets for each rapid implementation task:

  • Downloading a workbook or spreadsheet template for new setup data creation.

  • Downloading existing setup data to a spreadsheet for reviewing existing setup data or adding new setup data.

  • Uploading new setup data from a workbook or spreadsheet.

For this example, download the tax regimes spreadsheet template for new setup data creation from the Manage Tax Regimes page.

  1. Go to the Manage Tax Regimes page.

  2. From the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets list in the Search Results table, click Download Tax Regimes Spreadsheet Template.

  3. Prepare your tax configuration using the Manage Tax Regimes spreadsheet.

  4. Enter these values:

  5. Save the spreadsheet data file as a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file using the macro on the Instructions tab.

  6. From the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets list in the Search Results table, click Upload Tax Regimes from a Spreadsheet.

  7. In the Upload Tax Regimes from a Spreadsheet dialog box, select your file and click Upload.

  8. On the Manage Tax Regimes page, select the Monitor Upload and Download Processes

  9. Note the status of your process.

    • If the upload is successful, you can view your tax regime using the search criteria on the page.

    • If the upload fails, check the details in the corresponding error log, correct any file errors, and upload the file again. Any status other than Succeeded is considered a failure.

    Note: You can also download existing setups using the Download Tax Regimes to a Spreadsheet list item. Update that spreadsheet with the new tax regime details.

Creating Tax Regime Subscription Setup Data in a Spreadsheet

Since you have set up your legal entities and business units previously, you can subscribe them to the tax regime created earlier.

For this example, subscribe business unit, Business Unit 001, to the tax regime you created.

Caution: You must ensure that the tax regime exists before uploading the Regime Subscriptions Spreadsheet Template.
  1. Navigate to the Manage Tax Regimes page.

  2. From the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets list in the Search Results table, click Download Regime Subscriptions Spreadsheet Template.

  3. Prepare your tax configuration using the Manage Tax Regime Subscriptions spreadsheet.

  4. Enter these values:

  5. Save the spreadsheet data file as a CSV file using the macro on the Instructions tab.

  6. From the Rapid Setup Spreadsheets list in the Search Results table, click Upload Regime Subscriptions.

  7. In the Upload Regime Subscriptions from a Spreadsheet dialog box, select your file and click Upload.

  8. Click the Monitor Upload and Download Processes tab.

  9. Note the status of your process.

    • If the upload is successful, you can view your tax regime subscription using the search criteria on the page.

    • If the upload fails, check the details in the corresponding error log, correct any file errors, and upload the file again. Any status other than Succeeded is considered a failure.
