Types of Rule Blocks

The rule blocks are defined as serial rule block by default but you can change them to parallel or single if needed.

Parallel Rule Blocks

If any of the rules are defined with Approval Routing: Group in parallel then the block or participant type is parallel.

To convert the rule block to parallel, you can define additional rules. If rules have approval routing defined as Supervisory or Job Level Hierarchy then define an additional rule to convert the Block into Parallel as follows:

  • Rule Description: SRC_MIGRATION_RULE
  • Approval Routing: Group in Parallel
  • Approval Group Name: SRC_MIGRATION_GROUP

Single Rule Blocks

If any of the rules are defined with Approval routing: Group First Responder then the block type is single by default.

If rules have approval routing defined as Supervisory or Job Level Hierarchy then define an additional rule to convert the Block into Single:

  • Rule Description: SRC_MIGRATION_RULE
  • Approval Routing: Group First Responder
  • Approval Group Name: SRC_MIGRATION_GROUP

Here's an example for single rule block:

This table shows the Invoice Approval Rates table showing a rule defined for a single block type:

Block Name Rule Description Approval Rating Group/User/ Role Name Rule Priority Invoice Header
Invoice Amount *
ManagerApproval Manager Approver Rule Auto Approval Rule Supervisory Hierarchy Auto Approve Medium >=1000
SRC MIGRATION RULE Group in Parallel SRC MIGRATION GROUP Medium <1000
Note: You can't have parallel and single types within the same block. You can only have one block type.
