What happens when I run the Inherit Segment Value Attributes process?
Running the process eases chart of accounts maintenance by automatically replicating segment value attribute changes to the account combinations that contain that segment value.
For example, you enable a cost center segment value that had been previously disabled. Then you run the Inherit Segment Value Attributes process from the Scheduled Processes page to automatically reenable all account combinations containing that cost center.
Use the Segment Value Inheritance Execution Report to view the account combinations that were changed. You can prevent selected account combinations from being affected by selecting the Preserve Attributes option on the Manage Account Combinations page.
Here are some other points to note about the process.
-
Conflicting settings for the Enabled, Allow Posting, From Date, or To Date attributes are resolved by using the most restrictive setting of the individual segment values.
-
If you disable a segment value that’s used in an existing account combination and the Preserve Attributes option is enabled for that combination, the process won’t disable the account combination, For example, you might want some account combinations to remain active while others are disabled. The Preserve Attributes option ensures the active account combinations remain unchanged, even if a segment value is disabled.
-
The process replicates changes to the Third Party Control Account attribute.
