Overview of Consolidated Billing
Use consolidated billing to generate invoices that contain charge lines from multiple sources. You can create single billable invoices from more than one source transaction, in accordance with the requirements of a particular customer or sales contract agreement.
Examples include:
- Single invoice for a product item and the service associated with that item.
- Regular invoicing for related products and services from multiple sources on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Invoicing for a subset of products and services fulfilled while other products and services are still pending.
- Invoicing for items or services that require immediate payment without waiting for fulfillment of other services.
You can create consolidated invoices that are time-based or fulfillment-based, depending on the terms of the product and service agreements with your customers:
- Use time-based consolidated billing to generate invoices on a predefined schedule.
- Use fulfillment-based consolidated billing to generate invoices for completion of specific activities, while other products and services are still pending.

Manage Consolidated Billing Terms Workbook
Use the Manage Consolidated Billing Terms workbook with Oracle Visual Builder to define consolidated billing terms records. A consolidated billing terms record contains the definitions used to consolidate charge lines and to generate consolidated invoices.
All consolidated billing terms contain these definitions:
- Billing terms name, description, and consolidation method (time-based or fulfillment-based).
- Source transactions to include in consolidation: Order Management and/or Subscription Management.
- Specific sets of transactions within the source transactions to exclude from consolidation.
Time-based consolidated billing terms contain a billing cycle that determines the frequency of consolidated invoice creation and the date consolidation takes place.
Fulfillment-based consolidated billing terms contain the criteria for generating a consolidated invoice for the charge lines that have been fulfilled by a certain date.
To create consolidated billing terms:
- Navigate to the Billing work area.
- Open the Tasks panel and select Consolidated Billing > Manage Consolidated Billing Terms.
- Download the ManageConsolidatedBillingTerms.xlsx file.
- Double-click the Excel file to open the workbook.
If necessary, continue and download Oracle Visual Builder.
- Navigate to File > Options to open the Excel Options window.
- In the Excel Options window, select the Add-ins vertical tab.
- In the Add-ins table, select Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Excel.
- Select OK and complete the installation.
The Manage Consolidated Billing Terms workbook contains five tabs, with an Instructions sheet and four worksheets:
- Billing Cycles: Create billing cycles to define the billing frequency for time-based consolidation.
- Consolidated Billing Terms: Create consolidated billing terms that define the consolidation method used for a specific set of transactions.
- Billing Inclusions: Identify the source transactions to include for consolidation in each consolidated billing terms record.
- Billing Exclusions: Indicate the sets of transactions
from the selected source transactions to exclude from consolidation in each
consolidated billing terms record.
For example, if a customer has charges from certain business units or legal entities that require separate billing, use this tab to exclude them from the consolidated billing terms record.
Insert a separate row in each worksheet for each set of criteria that you want to add to the definition of a consolidated billing terms record.
After you complete the definition of the consolidated billing terms record, you assign the consolidated billing terms to the applicable customer account profiles.
