Previewing the Runtime View of a Navigation Flow for a User

Navigation flow designers can use the User Access View option to preview the runtime view for any user assigned to a group associated with a navigation flow.

This preview option is only available when the navigation flow is associated with a group. The User Access View option is not enabled for the Default navigation flow or for any navigation flow that is not associated with a group.

To preview the runtime view of a navigation flow for a user:

  1. Open the Navigation Flow page. See Viewing and Working with Navigation Flows.
  2. Select the row for the navigation flow you want to preview.

    Note:

The navigation flow must be associated with a group and it cannot be the Default navigation flow.

  3. In the upper right-hand corner of the page, click Actions Menu icon (Actions), and then select User Access View.

The navigation flow opens and displays the name of the navigation flow followed by (User Access View).

  4. Select from the following options:
    • Users: Select a user to preview the runtime view for that user. By default, the Users box displays the first name in the user list for the group associated with the navigation flow. To select a different user, click Users icon (Users), select another user, and then click OK.

    • Display: Select All nodes or Visible nodes. All nodes is the default option and it displays all the nodes for the navigation flow in the Navigation list. If some of the nodes are not visible to the user (possible reasons being they don't have access to an artifact within the node or an artifact within a node was removed or renamed), an error icon will indicate which nodes include artifacts that are not visible for that user. Visible nodes displays only the nodes that are visible for that user in the Navigation list.

  5. If All nodes is selected, the Navigation list displays error icons next to the nodes that are fully or partially inaccessible to the user:
    • No Access icon (No Access): This entire node is not accessible to the user. Possible reasons for limited access: the user doesn’t have access to the page or to the referenced node, the navigation flow might’ve been deleted or renamed, the connection might be unavailable or deleted.

    • Partial Access icon (Partial Access): One or more nodes are not accessible to the user. Possible reasons for limited access: the user doesn’t have access to the page or to the referenced node, the navigation flow might’ve been deleted or renamed, the connection might be unavailable or deleted.

If a node displays a Partial Access icon (Partial Access), expand the node to view the artifacts within each node that are inaccessible to the user.

  6. Click Close to exit User Access View.
