Action

Actions track changes to Human Capital Management (HCM) records, such as changes to employment and assignment records. When you create or update these records, the action identifies the cause of the creation or change.

You can view a history of effective-dated changes (assignment history, for example), and the action and reason details are particularly useful for reporting and tracking.

You can use actions to categorize the type of change. Each predefined termination action is associated with a termination type (either voluntary or involuntary) to help categorize the termination. For example, the termination actions Death and Reduction in Force are categorized as voluntary and involuntary respectively.

In certain cases, actions determine the business flow. For example, you can select from a list of employment-related actions, such as Assignment Change, Transfer, or Termination. The action you select determines the path you take through the current business flow.

To create your own actions, use the Configure Actions quick action under My Client Groups > Workforce Structures on the Home page.

Note: It's recommended that you follow these practices:

• If you're creating your own termination-related action, you need to specify the termination type for the action, whether it's voluntary or involuntary. This information is useful for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Select at least one active action code within each action type that's applicable for all countries.

The application defaults the action in the Termination and Resignation pages by searching for the first Voluntary termination action which doesn't have any role or country associated with it.

Employment-Contract-Specific Actions

You can add the contract action on the employment contract page. To do this, you need to select Yes in the Used in Contract field when you configure the action. After the configuration, the contract action will be available for selection on the employment contract page.
