How to Make Balance Adjustments for Regular Tax

This topic shows how you can make a balance adjustment for an employee that has been paid externally (from outside the Oracle Fusion Application) for a month. And from now, the Oracle Fusion Application will manage the employee's payroll.

This example shows how to compute the tax calculation for the employee's second pay period, by adding the tax information for the first pay period into the application using the balance adjustment functionality. Also, the employee doesn't avail of any special tax reduction rate or amount.

As a Payroll Administrator, use the Adjust Individual Balances task in the Payroll Calculation work area to make the balance adjustments.

Here's the list of steps to adjust the balances for the regular tax:
  1. Select the Adjust Individual Balances task in the Payroll Calculation work area.

  2. Enter the employee's name in the Name field in the Search window.

  3. Enter a date in the Effective-As-Of field to narrow your search. Click Search.

  4. In the Search Results, click the employee's name.

  5. In the Adjust Individual Balances section, under Element Details Subsection, click the Element Name drop-down list box.

    Check that all the elements relevant for the employee is listed here. If an element is not included here, you must set up the element eligibility and ensure that the employee meets the eligibility requirements.
  6. Select Regular Tax.

  7. In the Adjustment Values section, use the Balance drop-down list and select Balance .

  8. In the Pay Value field, enter 390.

  9. In the Income field enter 20000.

  10. In the Tax Base field, enter 20000.

  11. In the Nontaxable Earnings field, enter 2000.

  12. In the Tax Payable field, enter 390.

  13. In the Reduced Tax Payable field, enter 390.

  14. Click Submit

  15. Click OK.

Use the View Process Information Groups task to view and verify the balance adjustment for the employee.
  1. Navigate to My Client Groups > Payroll > View Process Information Groups.

  2. On the Search Person page, search for the person.

  3. Click the Actions down arrow, and select View Person Process Results.

    You can see the details of the adjusted balances.
