Create a Custom Job Role for OTBI Reporting Access

You can create a custom job role that provides access to OTBI and a data role that leverages this job role, which provides access to all the data in OTBI.

You can assign this data role to the user. Using this role, a user cannot view the data in the Cloud HCM application.

Here's how you can create the relevant roles and the user who can report with the OTBI reporting access.

  1. From the home page, navigate to Tools > Security Console > Create Role.

  2. Create a custom job role. Enter all the basic information for the role such as role name, description and and click Next.

Note: Do not modify a predefined role. Make a copy of the predefined role and edit that copy.
  3. Add the required subject area duty roles in the Role Hierarchy tab.
Note: You do not have to add anything in the Function Security Policies and Data Security Policies tabs manually.
  4. Save and submit this job role.
Note: You can also add BI Author role to this job role in the Role Hierarchy tab if you want the user to create OTBI analysis. If you do not add BI Author role you would get view only access.

Create a new data role based on this job role you created in the above steps.

  5. Under Data Role, select Data Roles and Security Profiles.

  6. Enter the data role description and click Next.

  7. In the Security Criteria tab, provide View All access to all security profiles.

    Click Save and Submit.

  8. Create a new user and assign this data role created in the above step

Note: The user created need not be a Fusion user. It can be anyone who requires reporting only access and needn't be a worker in the organization. Example: A consultant who helps developing OTBI catalog.
  9. Run the process: Import User and Role Application Security Data

  10. Login to the application, using this newly created user.

Note: This user has access to Report and Analytics but has no access to any other application in the UI.
    • Navigate to OTBI from Reports and Analytics app.

    • Run the OTBI Analysis

    • Create a new OTBI Analysis
