Configure Labels for Standard Document Type Attributes

You can configure new labels for the standard document record attributes based on the document type by using the translation editor on the Document Type Setup page. For example, you can configure these new labels for the passport document type:

Existing Attribute Label New Attribute Label
Name Passport Name
Number Passport Number
Issuing Comments Passport Issuing Comments
Start Date Passport Start Date
End Date Passport End Date
Issued Date Passport Issued Date
Issuing Authority Passport Issuing Authority
Issuing Country Passport Issuing Country
Issuing Location Passport Issuing Location
These steps show how you can configure new labels for the passport document type:
  1. Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
  2. In the Tasks panel drawer, click Search.
  3. Search and click the Document Types task name.
  4. Search for the passport document type.
  5. Click the passport link in the Search Results area.
  6. In the Edit Document Type page, click the Translation Editor icon (globe icon).
  7. In the Edit Translations dialog box, for the US source language, enter the new labels for name, number, issuing comments, from date, to date, issued date, issuing authority, issuing country, and issuing location. Click OK.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. Click Yes, and then click OK.
Here are some points to consider when you configure new labels for document record attributes:
  • You can configure the labels only by using the translation editor available on the Document Type Setup page.
  • By default, the new labels have a null value and therefore, the seeded labels are used.
  • The character limit for each new label field is 200 characters.
  • You can export and import the label configuration by using Functional Setup Manager (FSM).
  • You can create and update the labels by using HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader.
  • If you have changed the labels by using page composer, it is recommended that you evaluate your changes and use the translation editor configuration option wherever applicable.

When you’re configuring labels for standard attributes in the Redwood user interface, use the New Label field in the Basic details section. These labels are displayed when you view, add, or edit a document record for the document type. The translation support in the Redwood UI is available by logging in with the specific language and modifying the labels in the required language.
