Jurisdictions for Kuwait

A jurisdiction represents a physical territory, such as a country, province, or city, where a particular piece of legislation applies.

You must set up jurisdictions before creating registrations because a jurisdiction is required in the registration process. A jurisdiction has a start date and end date to show when it's effective and when you can register against it.

A tax jurisdiction is a geographic area where a tax is levied by a specific tax authority. Keep in mind that you must set up at least one tax jurisdiction for a tax before you can make the tax available for payroll transactions.

Identifying Jurisdiction

The identifying jurisdiction is usually the first jurisdiction that the legal entity must register with, such as Chamber of Commerce or Companies House, to be recognized in its territory. The registration to the identifying jurisdiction of the legal entity territory is called the identifying registration.

Predefined Jurisdictions

For Kuwait, Kuwait Social Insurance is predefined. A social insurance jurisdiction is a geographic area where a social insurance is levied by a specific social insurance authority. A jurisdiction must also have a start date and end date to show when it's effective and when you can register against it.

A new legal entity registration code, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is introduced to capture the employer MOSAL ID. You can create an additional legal jurisdiction, which isn't an identifying jurisdiction with a legislative category of Company Registration, and set the MOSAL ID as the legal entity registration code, if you choose to.
