Overview of Linking People to Time and Labor Objects

You link individuals and their managers to time entry, processing, and device processing objects using HCM groups and profiles.

Create groups using the HCM Groups task in the Setup and Maintenance work area. The task is part of the Workforce Deployment offering, Time and Labor functional area.

HCM Groups and Time Entry Objects

Payroll, project, absence, and custom time attributes make up layout components for time entry. These layout components, which are either time card fields or web clock buttons, and time categories make up the layouts in a layout set. You link individuals with layout sets using time entry profiles and HCM group assignments.

Tip: You can't edit groups linked to a time entry profile.

HCM Groups and Time Processing Objects

Time consumer sets include time categories. You can also link time categories with rules and rule sets that make up time entry or time calculation rule sets. Time card periods, consumer sets, optional overtime periods, and rule sets make up time processing profiles. You link individuals and their managers with these objects using time processing profiles and HCM group assignments.

HCM Groups and Time Device Processing Objects

Time device event mappings make up mapping sets. Time device rules and a single submission rule make up respective rule sets. These mapping and rule sets and a device export data configuration make up time device processing profiles. You link individuals and their managers with these sets and export data objects using time device processing profiles and HCM group assignments.
