Comparison of Rate Component Types for Salary Bases

When you determine the salary amount using rates, you can use Element, Derived, Grade Rate, and Value by Criteria rate definitions. These definitions are the multiple components of pay that make up the salary amount.

As shown here, Element rates use payroll element input values of either amount or factor. Value by Criteria rate definitions use Value by Criteria definitions. And Derived rates can use Element, Grade Rate, and Value by Criteria rates as rate contributors.
