Configure the Job Profile Type to Use in Staffing Plans and Workload Consolidation

By default, staffing plans use jobs to identify the staffing grid demand. But you can use job families, positions, or scheduling groups instead.

The job profile type you enable set up how you map workload demands to specific worker attributes. For example, you decide to enable scheduling groups for your hospital, and you have demands for registered nurses. Workers with any of these jobs can claim or be assigned registered nurse shifts, because they have the same scheduling group:
  • Registered Nurse 1
  • Registered Nurse 2
  • Charge Nurse

You set this preference at the start of the implementation and then don't change it again. So be sure of which job profile type to use. For example, in your implementation it might make more sense to use job families or scheduling groups instead of jobs.

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and click the Manage Common Lookups task.
  2. On the Manage Common Lookups page, search for the ORA_HTS_JOB_PROFILE_TYPES lookup type.
  3. Disable the ORA_JOB lookup code.
  4. Enable the appropriate lookup code.

If you enable scheduling groups, you also need to load scheduling group values for your jobs. Use HCM Data Loader or HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader, the Jobs business object, and the SchedulingGroup attribute. You also need to create the Scheduling Group lookups that schedulers will use.

  5. Save your changes.
