Balance Initialization Dimensions for the US

The payroll process calculates taxes at the relationship level, so they require initialization of the applicable contexts needed by the dimensions at the payroll relationship level. If you can have defined elements at the assignment level, you must initialize their associated dimensions at that level.

Oracle Cloud Payroll has predefined dimensions at these levels.

• Payroll relationship

• Assignment

• Group tax

For example, if you include the “Assignment Area1,2,3 Period to Date” dimension in the batch loader, you would provide the following to the process (in addition to the other data required for the process).

• Assignment

• Area1

  This refers to the state.

• Area2

  This refers to the county.

• Area3

  This refers to the city and tax district.

In this case, the balance you are initializing must be at the assignment and city levels.
