Examples

Here are some examples of person-level balance adjustments.

To do this

Consider this

Perform a balance adjustment after a transfer

Perform a separate adjustment for each tax reporting unit (TRU) if:

  1. The employee has transferred to a new TRU within the calendar year.

  2. You want to perform a balance adjustment for each TRU.

Use the process date of when the transfer took place.

Note: The calculation breakdown component automatically defaults to the TRU.

Adjust regional tax balances

Adjusting some regional balances might require adjusting related balances.

Here are some examples.

  • When using the Adjust Individual Balances task to adjust the City Withheld balance, you must also adjust one of these balances.

    • City Withheld Resident

    • City Withheld Nonresident

  • When using the Adjust Individual Balances task to adjust city tax balances using the tax element, use one of these elements.

    • Work City Tax

    • Residence City Tax

With this method, no other action is needed. The process automatically feeds the appropriate resident and nonresident balances.

Adjust Pennsylvania Act 32 balances

You must adjust the employee's local level balances when:

  1. The employee's work or residence is in a Pennsylvania Act 32 jurisdiction.

  2. You didn't initialize the local level balances for city and school district balances.

Local Income Tax: City and School balances are listed in the Balance Initialization technical brief.

Note: City and school local income tax balances are listed in the Balance Initialization technical brief. For further info, see Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management for the United States: Balance Initialization (1912298.1) on My Oracle Support.

If you're performing adjustments in place of the balance initialization process, you might need to perform multiple adjustments for every combination of resident and work PSD codes.

For example, if the employee moved into a different jurisdiction, they might require adjustments to multiple local-level balances.
