Calculation Rules

Here’s how the additional contribution types are calculated:

  • If calculation unit is flat amount, the amount entered is deducted, taking into account the time basis selected.
  • If calculation unit is percentage deduction and additional pension isn’t Added Years or Additional Survivor Benefits Contributions, the amount deducted is the percentage entered of the pension scheme member’s eligible compensation.
  • If calculation unit is percentage deduction calculation unit and the additional pension is Added Years or Additional Survivor Benefits Contributions, the amount deducted is the percentage entered of the pension scheme member’s final pensionable pay.

All additional pension contributions set up for LGPS is limited to the maximum contribution limit entered on element setup.
