Balance Types for the US

A balance is a combination of a balance type and a balance dimension.

Balances consist of the following types.

Type

What it does

Tax balances

Tax balances display the Current, Month-to-Date, Quarter-to-Date, and Year-to-Date values at the payroll relationship, payroll statutory unit (PSU), tax reporting unit (TRU), and assignment levels.

You can view these balances on the View Person Process Results page for an employee.

  • Federal balances

  • State balances

    Note: When viewing state balances, if you don't specify a state during your query, the task displays all states.
  • Both employee or employer balances

    The default values displayed are employee values.

Element balances

Element balances display Current, Month-to-Date, Quarter-to-Date, and Year-to-Date values at the payroll relationship, PSU, TRU, or assignment levels.

To view these balances on the View Person Process Results page:

  • Select the classification of the elements for which you want to view the balances.

    If you don't select a classification, balances for all element classifications are displayed.

  • Select a state to view the balances for a state.
