Eugene Oregon Community Safety Tax

The Eugene, Oregon Community Safety Tax is automatically deducted from all eligible employees.

This tax uses the City Tax component.

How to opt out your organization

There are cases where you want to exempt an entire organization from this tax.

  1. To opt out at the payroll statutory unit level, start the Legal Entity Calculation Cards task from your implementation project.

    To opt out at the tax reporting unit level, start the Legal Reporting Unit Calculation Cards task.

  2. Select the Eugene component group.

    Create it if it doesn't already exist. Select OR for the state, Lane as the county, and Eugene as the city.

  3. Select the City Tax calculation component.
  4. Select Enterable Calculation Values on Calculation Cards.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Select the Exempt from community tax display value.

  7. Enter a value, and click OK.

  8. Click Save and Close.

How to exclude individual employees

To exclude an individual employee from this tax:

  1. Use the Calculation Cards task to open the person's Tax Withholding card editing.

  2. In Regional, locate Eugene, OR's city tax calculation component.

    Add it if it doesn't already exist.
    1. In Regional, click Add and select Add Tax Withholdings.

    2. Select City Taxes as what you want to add.

    3. In City, enter Eugene. Select OR Lane Eugene from the list.

    4. Click Save and Close.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Select Yes as exempt from community tax.

  5. Click Save and Close.
