How to Enable the Rich Text Editor Toolbar in Feedback or Notes

Using the Rich Text Editor (RTE) toolbar, users can provide their feedback or notes with formatted text, images, and URLs.

When you enable the RTE toolbar, it appears in all pages that use feedback or notes across Talent Review, Goals, Performance Management, and so on. The exception to this behavior is the Provide Feedback page (from Quick Actions). When you enable it on the Provide Feedback page, the changes aren’t carried over to other feedback pages and vice versa.

Note: You can’t enable the toolbar in feedback pages that are a part of VBCS-based applications such as Connections or Touchpoints.

Before you start

Create a sandbox with the Structure and Page Composer tools in it, and activate the sandbox.

Here's what to do

  1. Open a feedback page. For example, go to My Team > Quick Actions > Show More > Feedback.
  2. Select an employee, and click Add in the Feedback Given to <Employee Name> section.
  3. Click your user name or image in the global header, and select Edit Pages.
  4. Click the Structure tab. A component panel appears at the end of the page. Drag it to the middle of the page to view the list of page components.
  5. Click the What do you want to say? section heading on the Feedback page. If a dialog box appears, prompting you to confirm editing of the component, click Edit.
  6. In the component panel, you will find that the corresponding component, panelLabelAndMessage: What do you want to say?, is highlighted. Select the Text component displayed below this component.
  7. On the component panel’s toolbar, click the Show the properties of Text icon.
  8. In the dialog box that appears, change the value of Toolbox Layout field from none to one or more toolbar icons that you want displayed on the toolbar. For example, enter this text:

  9. Click Apply, and then click OK.
