Create the Dependent Department Field
Certain groups of people can work in different departments during their shifts and you want to track the time they work in each department. So you create a dependent Department cost segment field for the independent Payroll Time Type attribute.
- In the General Properties section, click the Create icon.

On the Create Dependent Time Card Field dialog box, complete these steps:

Define the data sources.
- On the Create Time Card Field: Dependent Field Definition page, in the Filtered Data Source for Time Entry field, select the first source. This data source doesn't have any filters to add.
- In the Unfiltered Data Source for Setup Tasks field, select the first source.

Define the display properties.
- In the Display Type field, select Smart choice list.
- Select the Enable override on layouts option.
- In the Required on the Time Card field, select No.
- Click Next to open the Review page.
