How to Create a Smart List of Values for a Flow Parameter

In this example you create a Lookup of type "PAY_FLOWPARAMETER_VO" and use the Lookup to provide a list of values for a flow parameter. For example, you create a smart list of values for the Legal Entity flow parameter.

You define a list of values as a lookup type consisting of a set of lookup codes,

Use the Manage Common Lookups task to create a Lookup for Legal Entity parameter. After you create a lookup, use the Payroll Flow Patterns task to add the lookup to the flow as a smart list of values for the Legal Entity flow parameter.

How to Create a Lookup that Returns all the Value Objects for the Legal Entity Parameter

Let's look at the steps to create a lookup that returns all legal entities.

  1. Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance area under the Others tab on the Home page.

  2. Click the Tasks icon on the right and click Search.

  3. Search and select the Manage Common Lookups task.

  4. On the Manage Common Lookups page search for the Lookup Type PAY_FLOWPARAMETER_VO. This lookup type fetches the smart list of values for the flow parameter.

  5. Add a row in Lookup Codes and update the row with Lookup Code, P_LEGAL_ENTITY_ID.

  6. Enter the Start Date and End Date.

  7. Enter the Meaning. This value is displayed in the smart list of values lookup values in the Flow Parameter setup page.

  8. Click Save and Close.

How to Add the Lookup to the Payroll Flow Pattern

Let's look at the steps to add the lookup to the payroll flow pattern.

  1. Navigate to the Payroll Flow Patterns quick link under Payroll in My Client Groups.

  2. Create or edit the flow you want the smart list of values for Legal Entity added.

  3. OIn the Flow Parameters page, add or edit a row where you want to add the smart list of values.

  4. Enter the details of the parameter and select Smart LOV as the Display Format.

  5. In the Lookup column select the meaning of the Lookup Type P_LEGAL_ENTITY_ID you entered in Step 7.

  6. Save or submit the flow.

    When you submit the flow, you are presented with a list of values for the Legal Entity parameter for you to select.
