What's the difference between a flow pattern and a flow task?

All predefined payroll processes and reports are delivered with both a flow pattern and a corresponding flow task. You can use the flow pattern to submit a process or report.

For example, you can use the Calculate Payroll flow pattern on the Submit a Flow page to submit the payroll calculation process. The Calculate Payroll flow pattern includes a task of the same name.

You can also use the Calculate Payroll flow task to submit the payroll calculation process as part of a task flow. For example, you can define a flow pattern and include the Calculate Payroll flow task and the Run Calculate Gross-to-Net flow task.
