Maryland State and County Tax Withholding

An employee can request an additional tax amount added to either their Maryland state or county income tax. You add this amount to the State or County component of their tax card.

For employess who aren't exempt from state income tax (SIT), when the payroll process runs, it combines the amount with the appropriate caculated tax value and records it as SIT withheld.

For employees who are exempt from SIT, the process calculates only county tax and records it as SIT withholding.
