How are Pennsylvania PSD codes derived?
The automatic Calculation Card Jurisdiction Sync process uses the following prioritization logic when deriving and syncing political subdivision (PSD) codes.
This process keeps the employee Tax Withholding cards aligned with address and location changes. You can disable it by setting the Calculation Card Jurisdiction Sync calculation value definition to N.
How it derives the work PSD code
When syncing work PSD codes, the process uses this hierarchy.
-
Checks for the PSD code in Work Tax Jurisdictions in the Manage Locations task.
Work Tax Jurisdictions is a location-level legislative information extensible flexfield (EFF). PA PSD Code is automatically populated for a validated location address.
-
Checks Pennsylvania Work Location PSD Information on the person's tax card.
-
The process attempts to derive a unique PSD code based on the person's state, county, city, and township.
-
If no unique code can be identified, the process defaults the PSD Code to 880000.
How it derives the resident PSD code
When syncing resident PSD codes, the process uses this hierarchy.
-
If the employee has a Tax Jurisdictions card, the process uses the info from the Resident Tax Jurisdictions (system) component to populate the resident PSD code on the PA PSD regional component of the person's tax card.
-
If the PSD code is undefined on the card, the process uses the person's residential address details to derive a unique PSD code and identify the corresponding school district.
