How do I collect the processing logs for time rules?

Title and music.

To troubleshoot issues with time and workforce compliance rules, you may need to analyze the processing logs used to validate and process an employee’s time card. Let’s assume that you want to collect and review the time processing logs of an employee. In this video, I will explain how to view these processing logs by using the Analyze Rule Processing Details task.

To use the Analyze Rule Processing Details task and view the log files, you will need to have the Time and Labor Administrator role. You will also need to configure the ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG profile option. Let’s see how to configure the profile option.

Sign in as an Application Administrator. This sign-in also has the Time and Labor Administrator role. From the Home page, navigate to Setup and Maintenance, Tasks pane, and click Search.

Sign in as an application administrator.

On the Settings and Actions menu, select Setup and Maintenance.

Click the Tasks panel tab.

Click Search.

On the Search page, search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.

On the Search page, in the Search field, enter Manage Administrator Profile Values.

Click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.

Once you are on the page, search for the ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG profile option code. In the Search Results section, select ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG_LEVEL. Here, you can enable the rule set and rule logging.

In the profile option code, enter ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG.

Click Search.

In the Site level row, select Finest as the profile value. This will ensure that you get both the rules log and rule set logs.

In the Search Results section, click in the ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG_LEVEL row.

In the Site level row, in the Profile Value list, select Finest.

Next, select ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG_MONTHS_TO_KEEP. This option enables you to set a logging duration and automatically delete old log files. In the Site row, enter 1 as the profile value. This will ensure that your log files are retained for a month. Click Save and Close.

In the Search Results section, click in the ORA_HWM_RULES_LOG_MONTHS_TO_KEEP row.

In the Site level row, Profile Value field, enter 1.

Click Save and Close.

Sign out and sign in so that the newly configured profile values are effective. Navigate to the Team Time Cards page and add a time card for the employee whose time processing logs you want to review.
