How do I set up map view to display jobs accurately on map to candidates?

Candidates visiting a Career Site can select the Map View to view job locations on a map. Circles show the number of locations with jobs in an area. When a candidate zooms in on a circle, the circles change to PINS which display the number of jobs in a specific location. By clicking a PIN, candidates can see the jobs exact location and click direct links to the job details.

Let’s see how to set up this feature and also review some helpful tips.

Start in Setup and Maintenance and navigate to the Career Sites Configuration task.

In the Setting and Action menu, select Setup and Maintenance.

In the Setup list of values, select Recruiting and Candidate Experience.

In the Functional Area section, click in the Candidate Experience row.

In the Tasks section, click Career Sites Configuration.

Edit the career site on which you want to activate the map view.

Scroll to the Vision Healthcare (non-active) career site.

Click the Gear icon.

Select Edit.

On the General tab, scroll down and expand the Search Jobs on Map section.

Once the setting is in place, determine if the career site uses a custom search results page, if so, complete the next step. Navigate to the Pages tab and select a Search Results Page.

On the Career Site edit page, click the Pages tab.

Click Search Results Page.

You can edit an existing page or create a new one. We’ll edit a page.

In the Display Style menu, select Toggle Map and Tile.

Scroll down and click Done.

Now that your career site is set up, let’s review some helpful tips.

The first tip is for when candidates cannot see the Map View option on their results page. To solve this issue, first make sure you are working on the correct career site where the setting is needed. Then repeat the steps covered earlier. Ensure the Search Jobs on Map is enabled and that the Search Results Page has one of the two Toggle Map options selected. Then save the changes.

Sometimes more job locations display on the map than the original search criteria. This can happen when requisitions have additional locations and also when keywords are used in a search along with location. In this example, a search for Georgia yielded three jobs, but when the map is viewed the pins show six jobs with three in other locations. This happens because the jobs in the results contain multiple locations. The candidate must drill into the job details to see the alternate locations.

Sometimes jobs that are in the results just are not displayed on the map view. In order for jobs to be displayed on the map, the requisition must have a city level location on the Structure section or a designated work location in the Offer section. If the requisition has a just a country or state location, it will not display on the map. Also, when editing a career site on the General tab, if the Work Location Display is set to No Work Location, requisitions with work locations will also not display on the map even if there is a posting location.

The placement of the circles on the map may look inaccurate at first and not match search criteria. This can happen when the candidate first views the map. By default, the map will be zoomed out. As the user zooms in, circle placement becomes more specific. When a user zooms in on a circle, then the exact pin locations are displayed. If work location is not used, the job will be displayed on the posting location.

The last tip is for when jobs are displaying on the map, but in the wrong location. This may happen if a requisition posting location is in one city and the work location is in a different city. The system will always default first to the work location, not the posting location. To fix this issue, ensure that both locations match or remove the work location.
