How do I view a statement of earnings?

Start on the Home page.

In this tutorial I'll show you how to view a statement of earnings.

Click My Client Groups.

I’m signed in as a payroll manager. I received a call from an employee, Christina Ross, who recently moved to Illinois. She wanted to confirm that her withholding was paid to the correct state, so I’m going to check her statement of earnings.

Click the Payroll icon.

Click the Person Results link.

First, I’ll search for Christina.

In the Search field, enter Christina Ross.

In the Search Results, click Christina Ross.

Now that I’ve found Cristina, I’ll open her Statement of Earnings. I want to click the Calculate Payroll link for the payroll period that Cristina is concerned the withholding taxes may not have been paid to the correct state.

Click the Calculate Payroll link.

If Christina had multiple assignments, I could view the Statement of Earnings based on a particular assignment. And if she had supplementary runs they’d appear here. I can also look at a Statement of Earnings for previous payroll periods.

Click to expand the Process drop-down list.

Click to close the Process drop-down list.

Click to collapse Process information.

The statement of earnings shows the processing information and a breakdown of balance groups.

I can see an overview of the earnings calculated for this pay run and the year to date balance totals.

Click the $2688.39 Earnings link.

Click to close the Earnings popup.

I can also look at more details and drill down into any area of the payroll process, such as the employee tax deductions. I can see she did have state income tax withheld and the IL state abbreviation confirms the calculation was for Illinois.

Click the Show Details link.

I can also open the Calculation Card and confirm that it lists Illinois for both her residence and work address.

Click Actions and select Calculation Card.

When I’m reviewing Christina’s payroll calculations, I can also view her Balance Results, Run Results, Costing Results, and Messages.

Click Actions and select Run Results.

I can see the run results values for each element processed in a run. There can be a lot information to go through, so when I’m looking for a particular result I use the filters.

Click Show Filters.

There are number of filter types I can use to help narrow the search. In this case, I want to see all the results, and I’ll filter for State.

Click to clear the Primary Only option.

In the Filter field, enter state.

Click the Search icon.

Now I can see all the all the State deduction elements and their run results, which include the state, which in this case is Illinois. This concludes the Viewing a Statement of Earnings tutorial. Thanks for watching.
