How do I selectively migrate setup data from one environment to another?

You can migrate either the entire setup data or selective setup data from one environment to another.

Let’s say you’re selectively migrating jobs setup data from one environment to another, and the Redwood profile option for Jobs is enabled.

Here are the steps you need to complete:

  1. Create an implementation project, where you specify the objects for which you’re migrating the data.

For detailed steps, see the Setup Data Export and Import chapter of the Using Functional Setup Manager guide.

  2. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance and open the tasks panel tab, and click Manage Configuration Packages.
  3. On the Manage Configuration Packages page, in the Saved Search drop-down list, select My Configuration Packages.
  4. In the Search Results section, click Create.

On the Create Configuration Package page, you’re now in the Enter Basic Information step.

  5. In the Name LOV, select the Implementation Project that you created in the previous step.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Select Objects for Export step, select the HR Job row.
  8. In the HR Job: Scope section, click the plus icon.

The classic or Redwood jobs search page opens, depending on the profile option. In this case, the Redwood Jobs search page opens.

Note: When you open the search page from FSM scope, you won’t see the Add button and the job name links that are normally available on the search page. You won’t see links to navigate to other pages.
  9. Search for and select a job that you want to migrate.
  10. Click Apply, and then click Save and Close.
Note: In the classic mode, the search page used to open in a pop-up window and behind it, you could see the selection happening when you click Apply. In Redwood, the search page opens fully, and not in a pop-up window.

You’re taken back to the Edit Configuration Package page, where you can see that the job has been added as a row to the HR Job: Scope section.

  11. Click the plus icon again and repeat the steps to add as many jobs as you want.
  12. Click Submit.
  13. Click Yes in the message that’s displayed to begin the export process.

Data for only those jobs that you added will be exported as a configuration package. If you don’t add any jobs, then all the rows that you have in this pod will be exported.

  14. When the Status shows as Completed successfully, click Download and select the Download Configuration Package option.
  15. Open the configuration package that you have downloaded.

You can see the jobs that you had added.

  16. Import the configuration package to an environment where you want to migrate this data.
