View Your Career Progression Path in Grow
The career progression path for your role could appear in two areas on your career role details page in Grow: a linear progression path on the header, and multiple progression paths on a Career Progression tab.
Career Progression Path on the Header
A linear progression path is displayed if it's defined using the Define Jobs and Positions task or the Manage Positions task in Setup and Maintenance.
A few points to consider about this path:
- It’s displayed only if it has been defined in the job or position details of your role.
- It lists the next three jobs in the progression hierarchy of the career.
- Apart from your current role, the other career names shown on the career progression path depends on whether an active job profile or position profile is associated with the career.
- You can add one or more careers from this path to your careers of interest.
Career Progression Tab
On this tab, you can view multiple career progression options for your role, enabling you to explore lateral and vertical career opportunities. Note that these career options must be allowed and defined by your organization using the Career Paths feature in .
A career path consists of multiple steps. Each step can be associated with one or more career roles, which could be lateral or vertical positions across your organization.
For example, if you’re an Associate Software Engineer in the Software Development organization, a vertical career progression could be as follows:
- Associate Software Engineer > Software Engineer > Senior Software Engineer > Director of Software Engineering
To explore lateral career opportunities in the Product Management track, the career progression could be:
- Associate Software Engineer > Product Manager > Senior Product Manager > Director of Product
Features of career paths
- The steps in a career path are displayed hierarchically, from the highest level to the junior-most level.
- Selecting a career role on this tab takes you to the career role details page in Opportunity Marketplace.
- If your role is included in more than one career path, those career path cards will be displayed on this tab. You’ll need to select a card to see the steps in that career path.
- The count on a career path card is the sum of all active job and position profiles included across all the steps of the career path.
