Upgrade conditions
-
The upgrade applies only to elements that already have retro functionality enabled. It doesn't enable retro processing for elements.
-
Eligible elements in the supported classifications are upgraded to use the latest template functionality for TRU date paid processing. Elements in other classifications continue to follow the existing element upgrade rules.
-
In Update Mode, the following changes are made using the effective date specified in the Date Used by the Element Upgrade Process configuration parameter:
-
The Pay Value input value of the base retroactive element is updated to use the appropriate Special Purpose.
-
Balance feeds from the base retroactive element to the primary balance and other miscellaneous balances, including arrear and accrued balances, are end dated.
-
-
A new retroactive results element is created. This element contains the Pay Value input with Primary Output as its special purpose and replaces the base retroactive element for balance feeds.
Pretax deductions
-
Run the upgrade without selecting Iteration on Pretax Element to enable only TRU date paid functionality.
-
In the Enable Feature list, select Iteration on Pretax Element to enable both TRU date paid functionality and pretax iteration, provided the element meets the existing pretax iteration eligibility rules.
-
If an element isn't retro-enabled, selecting Iteration on Pretax Element can enable pretax iteration (if eligible), but it doesn't enable TRU date paid processing.
-
If a pretax element doesn't meet the iteration eligibility rules (for example, because proration is enabled), run the upgrade without selecting Iteration on Pretax Element to upgrade the element only for TRU date paid processing, provided all other eligibility conditions are met.
Additional considerations
-
The Formula Upgrade Option parameter doesn't affect this upgrade. The upgrade acts the same regardless of the parameter value.
-
For voluntary deductions that support arrears or total owed, the element must have a Deduction Reference input value before it can be upgraded.
-
Elements that don't meet the required conditions are skipped and reported in the process output.
-
Use the Element Name parameter to selectively upgrade individual elements instead of upgrading all eligible elements within a classification.Note:
Assignment-level elements, such as earnings elements, don't require an explicit upgrade to support TRU date paid processing for retroactive entries.
