Manage Distribution Centers and Routes

As a sales administrator, you can manage the distribution centers to assign and reassign routes and salesperson to them depending on your requirement.

Note:

A distribution center can have multiple routes and resources assigned to it. A route can have multiple resources assigned to it as well. However, the salesperson assigned to a route must belong to the distribution center of that route.

Create Distribution Center and Assign Resource

As a sales administrator, you can manage the distribution centers and assign the routes to salesperson.

  1. Click Distribution Centers on the Springboard and select Create.

  2. Enter the values for fields such as distribution center contact details, and address.

  3. Click Save and Close.

    A new distribution center record is created.

To assign a resource to the distribution center you created:

  1. Navigate to the Resources subtab of the newly created distribution center record.

  2. Click Add to assign a resource from an existing list of resources and select the resource.

    The selected resource is added to the distribution center.

  1. Navigate to the Route subtab of the newly created distribution center record.

  2. Select a route and click Add to assign an existing route number from the list.

Create Route and Assign Resource

A route is created and assigned resources and associated with a distribution center. Assortment can be associated with a route for the mobile application to identify sellable and unsellable products in its route inventory.

You can optionally specify a product category for a route. The salesperson views and sells the products of the specified product category.

  1. Click Routes on the Springboard and click Create.

  2. Enter the values for fields such as number, territory manager, and distribution center.

  3. Click Save and Close.

    A new record is created.

To assign a resource to the route you created:

  1. Click Route Allocation.

  2. Select a route from the Routes Landing page. On the Route Summary page, select from existing routes.

    Note:

    The selected route and resource must belong to the same distribution center created.

    Select the resource as Primary to ensure that route data is synced between the web and mobile application. Each route can have a single resource assigned as Primary and this same resource must sign in to the mobile application.

  3. Select a resource from the drop-down list to assign a resource to a route.

  4. Click Save and Close.

    The resource has been assigned to the route.

View Route History

Salesperson check in to the route when they leave the distribution center at the beginning of the day. Upon returning to the distribution center after the completion of their tasks, they check out from the route.

Check in and check out histories are recorded in the consumer goods mobile application. To view the check in and check out histories, go to the route object and select the check in and check out History subtab.

View Assignment History

You can check which vehicles and salesperson have been assigned to routes on a day to day basis.

On the route close, route assignment history is recorded in the consumer goods mobile application. To view the route assignment history, go to the route object and select the assignment History.
