Define Which Fields Are Required
Fields for tables in a GetMetadata response may have an attribute is-required which, if set to "true", forces the policy modeler to map a Policy Modeling attribute to this field.
The is-required attribute would typically be set to true if the field represents a column in a database which has a NOT NULL property, but without an AUTO INCREMENT or similar property which would automatically generate a value for the column. Note that if fields have this property set to true, but the table which contains them is not mapped, then validation checks allow the policy model to be deployed and debugged without errors.
An example of a required field is:
<Field name="Phone Number" type="STRING" can-be-input="false" can-be-output="true" ="true" is-required="true"/>
Tip: In Policy Modeling, required fields are indicated by a red star icon
in the Input Mapping view and Output Mapping view, as well as in the Mapped in and Mapped out drop-down lists in the Edit Attribute dialog box.
