Get the Metadata Available to Map to

The response from a GetMetadata request determines the possible mapping options for a policy model which uses that web service connection. The GetMetadata response represents the metadata describing the entire abstract layer. That is:

• Each table can potentially be selected as the Global entity for input or output. For more information, see Select the Root Tables to Map to the Global Entity.
• Each table can potentially accept attachments. For more information, see Accept the Attachment of Files and Forms.
• A table may be linked to many other tables as defined by each link. For more information, see Define Relationships between Tables.
• Each field defines:
  • the name as it will appear in Policy Modeling. For more information, see Name Tables, Fields and Links.
  • the type of data the field represents. For more information, see Choose the Data Type for Each Field.
  • whether the field can be mapped as a data input or output for the interview. For more information, see Select the Tables to Map to Other Entities.
  • whether the policy modeler is forced to output map a Policy Modeling attribute to this field. For more information, see Define Which Fields Are Required.
• The response may also indicate that the web service will support checkpoints. For more information, see Support Checkpoints.
